Ryan's Barbershop: Experience the Art of Precision Haircuts in Kalamazoo

My picky teenager will ONLY let Ryan cut his hair. A few months back, I made the mistake of taking my kid to a different barber, since I was in a hurry. Only to have to take him to Ryan’s the very next day to save salvage it. Luckily, Ryan is the best and he seriously worked his magic and fixed it up a bit. My teen enjoys atmosphere of the shop and conversations.

Ryan gave me an awesome haircut. His is probably also the only barber I've had more of a conversational exchange with beyond the weather. He has a lovely shop dog. Good vibes, great haircut. Cash only, no appointments. I will definitely be returning for subsequent haircuts.

Ryan does a great job and doesn’t rush. Always good conversations with the guys waiting their turn. Reminds me of the barbershops 60 years ago, except the music is better and no one is smoking.

I’ve been here twice now, but I will probably find somewhere else to go next time. Both times I was treated coldly and rudely, polite as I was. I extended my warm greetings but was met with a stern displeasure that made me feel silly for trying to be civil and confused on how to continue the interaction. If you experience this, I wouldn’t take it personally, though; after a brief conversation, it became clear to me that he didn’t really enjoy his career or find it particularly meaningful. This would understandably cause some discontentment. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and just prayed he would express that frustration ant another time—when customers aren’t around. Regardless, I was not made to feel welcome, which is important to me as a customer—especially with a service that is social by nature. I must give credit where credit is due, however. They were 2 of the best haircuts I’ve ever received. He may not enjoy it, but Ryan knows how to cut hair, and he will cut it well. I showed him a picture and he said “say no more.” Great barber. If you don’t care too much about an abrasive or cold atmosphere, I would highly recommend. 3 stars.

I have lived in Kalamazoo for 6 years now and had yet to find a good barber, until today. My barber in my hometown had cut my hair for 14 years of my life until he retired to Florida a few years ago, since then I have had trouble finding a barber in the area that even came close to his work, that changed today with Ryan. He gave me exactly what I asked for and he didn’t talk my ear off! (Which is VERY important to me and seems to happen often at salons when I go) Thank you Ryan, you have found yourself a new regular customer.

First time getting my haircut here and I was more than pleased. Ryan was not only a great barber but also friendly and has fair pricing. I'll be back.

Ryan and his barbershop does a great job. He takes time to give a quality cut, pays attention to what he's doing and is very friendly. I would recommend anyone to stop in for a cut. Honest and upfront gentleman with a great shop and fair prices. The shop itself makes for a great environment as well.

This was my first time going to a barbershop to get my hair done professionally. We found him from the great reviews he has. I don’t normally post review myself but I had to after today. I wasn’t really sure what to ask for but Ryan went to work on my hair and beard and it looked great. Very cool guy and even better work, can’t wait to come back regularly.
